We are all aware of Uber. Yes, the very app that helps us in getting cabs at any time of the day. Well, now there is a series coming up that will show how the app was born and how it became what it is today. Showtime, the American premium television network has now ordered for an anthology series titled “Pumped Up”, whose first season will tell the story of how Uber was created and also the story of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is the man who has signed up to play the role and star as Uber’s CEO, who also is the co-founder of the famous ride sharing app that took the world by storm. The show is at the moment in production now and planned accordingly. The first season of the series is based on the book “Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber” by author Mike Issac. The story will follow Travis Kalanick’s journey as the first CEO and how he founded the company and later how he was taken out in a boardroom battle. It will also focus on how his struggles were when he started his transportation company in the famous Silicon Valley.
“Pumped Up” was in plans since 2019, but it wasn’t supposed to be an anthology series. Now, the makers have planned to show a story each season. Each season, the series will explore a story that rocked the world of business and went on to change the course of history with their creations. So, we can definitely expect some exciting life stories of businessmen that have inspired the world today.
Showtime, is home to superhit series like Homeland, Billions, Ray Donovan, Shameless and among others. Brian Koppelman and David Levien of the “Billions” along with Beth Schacter will executive produce, write and will also serve as the showrunners for the upcoming series. Author Mike Issac is also set to join the team as the executive producer for the show.
As for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, this will be the second recent series, he earlier signed an Apple series titled “Mr. Corman”. One may know him from movies like “Inception,” “10 Things I Hate About You”, “The Walk,”, “500 Days of Summer” and the most recent and critically acclaimed hit, “The Trial of the Chicago 7”.
