Jr NTR’s EMK Fails, But Impresses

The first season of Jr NTR’s infotainment show on Gemini TV, Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu has garnered a TRP of 4.04, which happens to be the highest TRP for the franchise across all Indian languages. But more was expected of a seemingly exciting show that had a superstar like Jr NTR as the host. Well, for starters, Gemini TV’s strictly minimal reach can be cited as one of the main reasons behind the not-so-great run of Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu.

The previous edition of Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu, hosted by Megastar Chiranjeevi had garnered a season-average TRP of 3.62, which is lower when compared to that of the Jr NTR-hosted one. The common opinion is that Jr NTR’s EMK could have fared much better had it been telecasted on MAA TV. There is also a talk that Jr NTR has revived an infotainment show that registered utterly poor TRPs even while being hosted by Chiranjeevi.

While the season opener, which featured Ram Charan and Jr NTR had registered over 10 TRP, the followers of the show and netizens, in general, opined that Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu will go on to be a super successful venture. But the TRPs kept plummetting and the much hyped finale episode which marked the coming together of Mahesh Babu and Jr NTR could register a mere 4.90 rating, which is pretty poor, considering the star value it had in the offing.

Reports say, Jr NTR has opted not to host the second season of Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu, given his acting assignments. Gemini TV might well revoke the show. If an able host and vivacious speaker like Jr NTR can’t boost the TRPs of the show, there is nothing much anyone else can do about it.

While the Jr NTR hosted EMK couldn’t meet the expectations laid upon it, the show has registered a franchise-high TRP, which is an impressive feat.
