Jr NTR On RRR OTT Release: Would You Enjoy Watching Baahubali or Jurassic Park or Avengers On OTT – RRR Is One Such Movie

As frequent updates about the hotly anticipated film RRR swirl on social media, Indian film fans are agog with curiosity – will RRR directly on OTT instead of in the theatres, as sections of the media have speculated? The most definitive reply to the simmering query has come from the man in the spotlight – Jr NTR, the star of the film.

In an interview with online publication Deadline — the first ever interview he’s given on RRR —N T Ramarao Junior, popularly known as Jr NTR, has categorically denied the possibility of RRR releasing directly on an OTT platform. When asked whether the makers of RRR have considered releasing RRR directly on an OTT platform, Jr NTR replied,

“RRR was never considered for an OTT release. There are certain films that need to be enjoyed as a community on a large screen. Would you enjoy watching Baahubali or Jurassic Park or Avengers on OTT? No. We never thought about doing that, we were willing to wait for cinemas.”

He added, “We have a ray of hope, we know people will come back to watch films. India lives on movies. We take them very seriously as audiences. RRR is one such movie.”

All those hoping for RRR to release directly on OTT have got their answer in this thoughtfully-worded and balanced reply from Jr NTR.

RRR is easily the most anticipated film in Indian cinema at present. Buzz around the film has reached a crescendo, what with enticing pictures, motion posters and a riveting teaser adding to its allure.

The film is directed by maestro S. S. Rajamouli, creator of the monstrous hits Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion. RRR boasts an excellent cast – Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson and Alison Doody. The film recounts the inspiring stories of two lesser known freedom fighters of India – Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively.

RRR is slated to release in theatres on 13th October 2021.
