It all began with Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and has been carried on by Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ and Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’. The latest addition to the bandwagon might be Karan Johar’s star studded family drama ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’.
The film has opened to decent numbers on the box office and is receiving love from all across. As per the official numbers revealed by Dharma Productions, ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ collected ₹9.28 crores on the opening day.
While the morning business was slow for the film, it later picked up in the evening. Currently the film is doing good mostly in metro circles but with good word of mouth ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ seems to have the potential to perform better in tier ll and lll cities with mass pockets in coming days.
‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ is an urban family film that explores the intricacies of marital relationships while indulging the audience in comedy, drama and emotions. Whether it’s Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor or Kiara Advani, every actor is getting praised for their performances with the film receiving applause for being a nice family entertainer.
While it’s all looking good till now, hope that ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ does not meet the fate of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ and ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ which despite having a decent day 1 business later tanked at the box office.
The bright side here is that inspire of having its own share of non-performing movies like ‘Dhaakad’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Jayeshbhai Joridaar’, ‘Jersey’, ‘Heropanti 2’ and more, Hindi film industry is now slowly but steadily picking pace.
This is evident from the smashing success of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ that breathed a new life and gave a new hope to the industry with its performance. And if ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ is able to carry forward the audience’s love for Hindi cinema from here on, there will be no turning back even if a few roadblocks come along the way.
