Julianne Moore Announced To Preside Over Venice Film Festival

Prominent American actress, Julianne Moore, has been chosen as the president of the international jury selected for the 79th Venice International Film Festival, scheduled to commence on August 31.

Apart from Moore, the jury consists of the Argentinian film helmer and producer Mariano Cohn, French filmmaker and 2021 Golden Lion winner Audrey Diwan, Italian director Leonardo Di Costanzo, Iranian performer Leila Hatami, Spanish helmer Rodrigo Sorogoyen, and Japanese-UK writer Kazuo Ishiguro.

The above-mentioned jury members will bestow awards to the winner in the following categories:

Golden Lion for Best Film

Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize

Silver Lion for Best Director

Coppa Volpi for Best Actress

Coppa Volpi for Best Actor

Award for Best Screenplay

“Marcello Mastroianni” Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress

Special Jury Prize

Julianne Moore commenced her acting journey with the television show The Edge of Night in 1984. Six years later, she made her film debut with John Harrison’s Tales from the Darkside: The Movie. But she rose to prominence in Hollywood through Robert Altman’s Short Cuts (1993). The popular redhead actress has starred in various popular films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Hannibal, The Hours, Children of Men, The Hunger Games series, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and many more.
