It was only yesterday when the mega announcement of a mega movie came forward. We are talking about the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Anniyan. It was officially announced yesterday that Ranveer Singh will be joining hands with filmmaker Shankar Shanmugam for the Hindi remake, which Singh would be leading. Pictures of Ranveer Singh and Shankar flooded social media yesterday as Pen Studios along with Ranveer Singh announced this brand new venture.
It has now just been a day since the announcement of the remake and the makers and movie are already finding themselves in legal troubles. In a letter released today, producer V Ravichandran of Aaskar Films have sternly accused director Shankar of copying the idea and main plot for the original movie “Aaniyan”.
V Ravichandran is the producer for the original movie and still holds the rights to the movie. Apparently Shankar has gone on to work on the Hindi remake without informing Ravichandran about the same. V Ravichandran was the one who bought the rights for the movie from writer Sujatha back then and till this day holds the sole rights for the entire movie and story.
Ravichandran in his letter also added how it is completely illegal to do such a thing and mentioned that legal actions will be taken against after this. He has also asked Shankar to stop working further on anything remotely related to the remake of the movie.
