Creating a series for India is indeed a difficult task for OTT platforms due to major language barriers. Though most people are polyglots, it does create some problems among the division between North and South India. If an OTT platform wants their original series to skyrocket, they need to focus on their dubs.
However, “Mirzapur” is encountering significant problems with its dubs.
The basic catch with the southern part of India is that content needs to be dubbed in four primary languages, and if a platform fails to do so, they will lose a considerable chunk of viewership. As Prime Video has its biggest market in India, they need to focus on capturing more audiences.
But sometimes, they fumble. It’s evident that Prime Video is missing out big time when it comes to the southern audience, especially in Karnataka, as the OTT giant is lacking in effort.

Some viewers have complained that Mirzapur’s Kannada audio is messy and inconsistent. For starters, though they advertise that Kannada audio is available, in reality, it is extremely selective. Episode 2 of Season 1 and Episodes 5, 9, and 10 of Season 2 have Kannada audio, which practically sucks for the fans.
And it’s not just the availability of Kannada audio that creates a problem; sometimes the audio and the video are not in sync, even in the official application.

Prime Video is preparing for the release of “Mirzapur” Season 3, and they should definitely focus on issues like these, which affect the quality and trust of any platform aiming this high.
