We had earlier made our readers aware that an ‘Alien’ series is in the works at the FX channel by showrunner and director Noah Hawley (the man behind acclaimed shows like ‘Fargo’ and ‘Legion’). The project kicked off production earlier this year in July and will resume filming from January / February until July 2024. The ‘Alien’ series is set to premiere sometime in the early months / first half of 2025.
The Alien series features Syndey Chandler in the lead role alongside Alex Lauther and Indian actor Adarsh Gaurav, amongst others. And the latest cast member to join the show in a major but undisclosed role is Timothy Olyphant, who is well known for playing the role of a sheriff in HBO’s western drama ‘Deadwood’ and the crime drama series ‘Justified’. Besides, he has also starred in ‘Fargo Season-4’ and Quentin Tarantino’s movie ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
The basic story of the ‘Alien’ series will not take place in Nostromo, the commercial space vehicle which featured in the first ‘Alien’ movie. In fact, the show will be set around seventy years before the events of the cult 1979 film. So, it will not revolve around the legendary protagonist Ripley, who was immortalized by Sigourney Weaver in the first four Alien ventures.
Until now, the audiences have witnessed six Alien films that include two prequel films. The first film along with the prequels were directed by Ridley Scott. And the second Alien movie ‘Aliens’ was helmed by ‘Avatar’ director James Cameron. ‘Alien 3’ was helmed by David Fincher and the fourth Alien movie ‘Alien Resurrection’ was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
Another good thing about the forthcoming ‘Alien’ series is that the original ‘Alien’ film director Ridley Scott is backing the new alien project. So, that’s another thing to be excited about. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Noah Hawley’s ‘Alien’ series.
