K-Drama ‘Something in the Rain’ Gets an Indian Remake!

Something In The Rain, starring Jung Hae-in and Son Ye-jin, is getting an Indian makeover. You heard it right! This JTBC original,also streaming now on Netflix is going to get an Indian remake.

The 16 episode show, chronicles the story of a woman in her mid-thirties, who falls in love with her best friend’s younger brother, who is in his 20s. The story revolves around the obstacles they face pertaining to the reservations south-korean society has with regard to elder women dating younger men. The writing sensitively handles the many regressive notions from the likes of family, friends, work-circle while also shedding it’s light on how normalised is workplace harassment is in South Korea.The show was extremely successful in it’s domestic territory while also finding a huge fan following world-wide.It is also known by another name, Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food. Noona refers to a woman, called by a man younger than her. Son Ye-jin and Jung Hae-in showcase excellent performances in the show. Also to add that Son Ye-jin’s in ‘ Something in the Rain ‘ is one of the most well written female characters ever from k-drama land.

Pocket Aces, which is known for series like Little Things, has collaborated with JTBC Studio for the popular show’s Indian remake. JTBC Studio released a statement that read, “We have recently confirmed the production of an Indian remake of Something In the Rain with Pocket Aces, India’s largest digital entertainment company.” However, fans had mixed reactions to the news.

While some were really excited and took to social media to express their happiness and suggestions for the lead cast, the others were rather uncertain about a remake. They opine that their favourite Jung Hae-in – Son Ye-jin are irreplaceable as Joon-hee and Jin-ah. Makes sense because the original show is anyway available to stream on Netflix India.
