2022 has been a great year so far for Indian cinephiles as fans have witnessed the release of some fine films recently. And out of those, the ones which have made it to IMDb’s top-rated Indian movies list were ‘Hridayam’, ‘RRR’, and ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’. And now, the latest entrant to the coveted list is none other than the action extravaganza ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’, which was released in cinemas yesterday, that is, on 14th April 2022.
Not only ‘KGF 2’ has made its way to the highest-rated Indian films list on IMDb within just one day of its release, but the movie has also achieved the rare feat of entering the top 5 Indian films of all time. Currently, the KGF sequel is the second-highest-rated movie on IMDb’s top 250 Indian movies list.
‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ currently holds a highly impressive IMDb user rating of 9.8/10 based on around 21k votes. Prashanth Neel’s visually opulent film did not take much time to even surpass S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster film ‘RRR’ starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan and has also outranked Suriya’s hard-hitting legal drama ‘Jai Bhim’.
As of now, the only film which ranks ahead of ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ on the IMDb list is the critically acclaimed 2003 comedy-drama movie ‘Anbe Sivam’ starring Kamal Haasan and Madhavan in the lead roles.
‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ is the second installment of Prashanth Neel’s 2018 directorial film K.G.F: Chapter 1’. Kannada star Yash reprises his role as the top-notch assassin Rocky who masqueraded as a laborer in the titular Kolar Gold Fields in the first film. The sequel showcases Rocky’s story arc as the new KGF boss and his fight against a formidable adversary and the government. KGF-2 also features Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist Adheera, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
