It has been a really good year for the Netflix series this year. They began with Trial By Fire and gave some really impressive shows like Scoop, Kohrra, Class and even the Veerappan documentary. Even in terms of commercial success, Rana Naidu and Guns & Gulaabs really hit the ball out of the park.
In fact, Scoop came out to be one of the best series ever in Indian OTT and we have yet again Kaala Paani. Kaala Paani is certainly not at the same level as Scoop but it has done something extraordinary that the Hansal Mehta show couldn’t. It is a commercial success.
In a way, Kaala Paani is all the perfection that Netflix needs. It is a really well-made show plus, it appeared on the international charts. Yes, you read it right.
With 1,600,000 views, Kaala Paani was the 9th most-watched non-English show on Netflix last week. We do realise that 9th is not an extraordinary position but come on, it is very rare for Netflix to achieve and only masala entertainer Netflix India series have done it so far. So we would definitely say that Kaala Paani is something that Netflix India needs more than Scoop.
