50 yeas ago on this day the then Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi had imposed emergency in the country. And on this very day, Zee Studios has unveiled the release date of the film made on the event and titled ‘Emergency’ led by Kangana Ranaut.
Earlier scheduled to release on 14th June, 2024, ‘Emergency’ was postponed due to the Lok Sabha Elections. Touted to be an explosive saga of the most controversial episode of history of Indian democracy, ‘Emergency’ will now release in cinemas on 6th September, 2024.
A biographical political drama, ‘Emergency’ is based on true events that unfolded in 1975. The film chronicles incidents that took place under the leadership of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, one of the most powerful women in Indian history.
Written and directed by Kangana Ranaut herself, ‘Emergency’ marks her second directorial feature after ‘Manikarnika’. Ritesh Shah has penned the dialogues and screenplay for the film.
In addition to Ranaut, the film stars Mahima Chaudhary, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, Ashok Chhabra, and Satish Kaushik in prominent roles.
‘Emergency’ is produced by Zee Studios ans Manikarnika Films. Renu Pitti, Kangana Ranaut and Umesh Kr Bansal are the producers of the film. ‘Emergency’ will release in theatres on 6th September, 2024. The post theatrical streaming rights for the film are acquired by Netflix.
