The Kannada fantasy action film 45 finally arrives on Zee5 on 23rd January. While its theatrical run had mixed responses, 45 feels like the kind of movie that works better when watched without expectations.
Directed by Arjun Janya in his debut as a filmmaker, the film aims high. It blends action with spiritual ideas and philosophical questions about life and death. Not every idea lands perfectly, but you can’t deny the ambition behind it. In an industry where safe formulas dominate, 45 at least tries to do something different.
Raj B Shetty once again proves why he is one of the most interesting actors in Kannada cinema today. His performance carries the emotional weight of the story. Shivarajkumar and Upendra add intensity and star presence, even if their roles feel more symbolic than fully explored.
Visually, the film has its moments. Some scenes look striking, while others feel slightly overdone. The narrative can be uneven, but the core theme of personal responsibility keeps it engaging enough to stay invested.
If you skipped 45 in theatres, the Zee5 release may be worth your time. It may not be a flawless film, but it is sincere and different. Sometimes, that is reason enough to press play.
