Karan Arjun, Kal Ho Na Ho and Pardes Hit The Theatres Again

Have you ever thought of how you will stop coming to the theatres cause it is increasingly getting too expensive? I assure you, you are not the only one thinking that.

Lately, operating a cinema hall has become increasingly challenging, particularly as theatre attendance steadily declines. In the face of possible extinction, many theatres are doing everything they can to survive in an incredibly competitive industry.

To cover their mounting expenses, cinemas often have to charge high prices for tickets and concessions—a move they take reluctantly, but see as necessary to stay alive. With few other options, they are driven to make these difficult choices to keep their doors open.

Due to this, audiences find staying at home and streaming their favourite shows and films on OTT a better and cost-friendly option.

To make up for the lost audience, cinema halls and multiplexes are finding creative ways to bring audiences to the halls. PVR has been experimenting with various ideas.

It partnered with Kotak Mahindra Bank and launched the PVR credit card that gave various discounts. It also keeps giving various discounts on its food and snacks to reel in audiences, but the idea wasn’t a major success.

Recently PVR announced the re-release of 3 of our favourite Shahrukh Khan films- Kal Ho Na Ho, Karan Arjun and Pardes.

Pardes and Kal Ho Na Ho are scheduled to be screened on November 15, while Karan Arjun is going to be screened on 22nd November, in celebration of 30 years of the film.

This decision raises an interesting question: are these nostalgic re-releases the only way for cinemas to draw crowds, or is there hope for new films to ignite similar excitement?

Perhaps the key to this lies in blending the timeless charm of classic stories with fresh storytelling that resonates today. With audiences eager for meaningful narratives, the possibilities for impactful cinema remain vast, especially for those who value a heartfelt cinematic experience.
