Karan Gour’s ‘Fairy Folk’ To Premiere At Sydney Film Festival

Trailer for Rasika Dugal and Mukul Chadda starrer ‘Fairy Folk’ is here and it’s quite a unique one. Helmed by Karan Gour, ‘Fairy Folk’ will premiere at 69th Sydney Film Festival to be held during 08th-19th June, 2022.

The trailer shows Mohit (Mukul Chadda) instructing an unknown being to take the plate of food to his wife Ritika (Rasika Dugal) and then goes on to ask it to feed her too. This unique naked creature obliges with everything while Mohit and Ritika discuss how Mohit figured out a way to get things done through it.

While there are many more things they need to sort out about the being Ritika feels it would be like they are enslaving the poor thing. What’s different and striking about the trailer is it’s realistic feel like one is sitting right there while the conversation plays out. The lack of overdramatised cinematic feel makes it special in itself.

Written and directed by Karan Gour, ‘Fairy Folk’ follows the story of squabbling couple Ritika and Mohit who have lost their spark, tired of each other’s neuroses and failures. More challenges arise when they discover a genderless being in the woods, which proceeds to casually follow them home.

In a bizarre turn, the entity reveals it can shapeshift into a youthful human, mirroring the soul of the last person who showed it kindness. Ritika and Mohit become caught in a sometimes – hilarious, sometimes-catastrophic web of insecurity and desire, as they attempt to create ideal versions of one other.

Thorny questions of love and sexuality take centre stage in ‘Fairy Folk’, a magical realist drama in which a genderless woodland being crashes into the lives of a jaded couple. The film stars Rasika Dugal, Nikhil Desai, Asmit Pathare and Chandrachoor Rao among others.

‘Fairy Folk’ is produced by Anukampa Harsh, Karan Gour, Siddharth Bhatia and Tejas Shah. The production companies behind the film are Empathia Films, Bala Wala Cinema, Awe Studios, Timbaktu, Triforce Cinema & Entertainment and Accord Equips.

‘Fairy Folk’ will premiere at 69th Sydney Film Featival to be held during 08th-19th June, 2022.
