For all you Karate Kid fans, we have some exciting news in store. The renowned Karate Kid-verse is getting another instalment – or rather a mild reboot – in the franchise, with the inclusion of some nostalgic and well loved faces! As we all know, the Cobra Kai series on Netflix continues the story directly from the main Karate Kid film in great depths. However, with its end looming after the airing of season 6, fans were in limbo regarding the franchise’s future.
The historic Karate Kid flick came to screens back in June 1984, and has been going at full steam with triumphant success on all fronts. The original movie outlined Daniel LaRusso’s – played by Ralph Macchio – struggles with bullying and how he overcame it with help from the famous Mr. Miyagi, and in 2010 another instalment was released with Jaden Smith as the young trainee, with the legendary Jackie Chan playing his teacher, Mr. Han but while focusing on Kung Fu rather than Karate. After a decade and counting, a new venture is about to set sail.
While the exact title of the film, or the entire ensemble cast is not known yet, we do know that our dear Ralph Macchio will be reprising the role of Daniel along with Jackie Chan as Mr. Han. The story will revolve around a young Chinese teen learning the martial art under a mentor. You can expect a great deal of reminiscence as well as ingenuity intertwining in this new adventure. Owing to the SAG strikes, the release of this movie has been postponed tentatively to December 13th of this year. Get ready to experience the power packed punch of this movie in a theatre near you.
