Sriram Raghavan’s much-talked-about thriller film ‘Merry Christmas’ finally has an update. In keeping with the title of the film, the makers of the film chose today, that is Christmas day, to post a keenly awaited update on the film. Producers Ramesh Taurani, of Tips Industries, and Sanjay Routray, of Matchbox Films, have revealed the release date of Merry Christmas. The film will hit theatres next year on Christmas, on 23rd December, to be precise.
Interest in Sriram Raghavan’s next film after the terrific ‘Andhadhun‘ has been at the peak. A ripple of excitement went through film buffs when the maverick filmmaker announced his next film late last year. Titled Merry Christmas, it is a thriller and suspense movie just like his blockbuster hit Andhadhun. The film is apparently a murder mystery. Merry Christmas boasts the compelling pairing of Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif and South acting maestro, Vijay Sethupathi.
For those who don’t know, Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most stellar actors in the Tamil film industry. He’s loving called Makkal Selvan (people’s man, or better, people’s actor) by his fans. Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s pairing is therefore one of the striking features of Merry Christmas.
The other striking feature of Merry Christmas is bound to be Sriram Raghavan’s writing and direction. Raghavan is easily the most exciting filmmakers of recent times. All his films, be they Ek Hasina Thi, Johnny Gaddar, Agent Vinod, Badlapur or Andhadhun, are a masterclass in gripping writing and stylish filmmaking.
Merry Christmas has recently gone on the floors. The muhurat shot of the film took place in Mumbai on December 22. Most of the film will be shot in Mumbai and Pune. Merry Christmas was supposed to kick off shoot in April this year but the Covid-19 second wave put paid to those plans.
