The Assassin, a new drama series from the writing team Harry and Jack Williams, will premiere on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland. All3Media International, Stan in Australia, ZDF, the German co-production partner, and the award-winning production company Two Brothers Pictures (The Tourist, Boat Story, Fleabag) are collaborating on the series.
Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard, Scoop) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor, Bates Motel) are the series’ stars and executive producers. Alan Dale (Dynasty), Gerald Kyd (The Swarm), Devon Terrell (Totally Completely Fine), Richard Dormer (Blue Lights), Gina Gershon (Riverdale), Shalom Brune-Franklin (The Tourist), Jack Davenport (The Morning Show), and David Dencik (The Ipcress File) are also starring. Additional cast members will be revealed later, according to Amazon.
The plot revolves around a retired assassin Julie (Hawes), isolated on a lonely Greek island, who has a tense reunion with her estranged son Edward (Highmore), who is paying a visit from England. Edward struggles to choose the appropriate moment to talk to his annoyingly aloof mother, armed with inquiries about fresh details regarding his paternity.
However, when that time comes, things take a deadly turn as Julie’s criminal background catches up with her, forcing them to leave the island and go on the run together. As the past and present clash in a global showdown, Julie battles to save Edward and their relationship in a race against time.
