Keerthy Suresh’s latest Tamil film ‘Raghu Thatha’, a political satire directed by Suman Kumar in his directorial debut opened to mixed reviews upon its theatrical release last month and is now set for its digital debut on Zee5.
Set in the 60s, mRaghu Thatha’ is a fun filled tale of a rebellious young woman Kayalvizhi. Kayalvizhi who works as an upper division clerk at a bank and is a fervent feminist and anti-Hindi imposition activist. She also has a hidden identity wherein she writes stories under a male pseudonym. When his grandfather presents his dying wish of wanting to see her married, Kayalvizhi is forced to choose between patriarchy and principle.
‘Raghu Thatha’ received mixed reviews upon its release in theatres on 15th August. Some critics praised the film for its storyline and the performances but criticised it for its inconsistent narrative and underdeveloped ideologies. Though the film had its moments, it still left the viewers confused.
Suman Kumar, whose credits include ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Farzi’, makes his feature directorial debut with ‘Raghu Thatha’ that stars Keerthy Suresh, MS Bhaskar, Devadarshini, Ravindra Vijay, Anandsami, and Rajeev Ravindranathan among others.
‘Raghu Thatha’ will premiere on Zee5 in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada on 13th September, 2024.
