Kevin Feige has put all the rumours regarding his involvement in a future Star Wars movie to rest, confirming that the project is not happening. The rumours about the MCU’s godfather producing a Star Wars flick popped up back in 2019 when Michael Waldron was hired to pen down the screenplay.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige debunked rumours of his Star Wars movie. One of the reporters from EW asked him about the project. He simply replied, “No”.
The idea of Kevin Feige working on a Star Wars project certainly appears intriguing. However, we should not expect him to collaborate with Lucasfilm any time soon, considering the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Right now, he is completely focused on giving the MCU a new direction. Overhauling the entire TV division of Marvel Studios was one of his first responses towards the deteriorating state of the superhero franchise. In addition, he has to protect Kang the Conqueror’s worth in the MCU due to Jonathan Majors’ ongoing legal issues. Apart from these scenarios, the superhero franchise is suffering from tons of dilemmas. And it needs its godfather more than ever now.
Working for both Marvel and Star Wars would have messed things up for Feige. He cannot just ignore or leave the MCU, the franchise that gave him the global fame he has now. For Feige, working with Marvel Studios to solve the ongoing production issues is better than choosing to work for a completely new space opera franchise.
Feige’s decision to stick with the MCU will sit well with the Marvel fanbase. As for Star Wars fans, they should trust the duo of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni more. Stay tuned for more updates.
