Kevin Hart is back again. He has been releasing a lot of projects via Netflix, similar to Eddie Murphy in the 90s with his brilliant theatrical releases and other successful standup comedians before (and after him). This time, Kevin Hart portrays the struggles of a single parent in Netflix’s upcoming film ‘Fatherhood’. The trailer for this film dropped a few hours ago, on Netflix’s official YouTube page – so check it out at the end of this article.
This upcoming comedy drama movie is based on the 2011 memoir titled ‘Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love’ by American author and blogger, Matthew Logelin. Logelin’s memoir is about the sudden single parenthood situation he had to face after his wife’s unexpected death, 27 hours after she gave birth to their daughter. The screen adaptation for this film is being presented by the Obamas.
The trailer for the film starts off in brilliant Kevin Hart fashion – with a joke. But unlike his previous films, this joke is more self-deprecating, talking about how he doesn’t know how to take care of his infant baby and that he needs help int making care of her. A few moments later, we are shown Kevin Hart’s character, Matthew who is greeting people at his wife’s wake while taking care of the infant baby. Everyone around him wants him to shift to a place where his daughter can have a mother-figure, but he refuses to do so. The film follows him and his daughter, who grows up to be a young girl, with Matthew still learning new things about single parenthood.
The stand-up comedian has taken the Hollywood scene by storm and he has only improved as time has gone by, with the actor having become a very bankable star in the last decade. He has taken on different kinds of roles and hasn’t shied away from the dramatic ones either and he has proven that he got the acting chops to pull them off as well. We expect to see another brilliant Kevin Hart performance in this heart-wrenching story and we can’t wait for the movie to finally come out, in June.
Kevin Hart’s upcoming single parenthood memoir adaptation, ‘Fatherhood’ premieres on Netflix on June 18th 2021.
