Netflix India is being bashed for a proclaimed mistake in ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’. The Hindi vs other languages controversy was talked about a long time and now it is back to news again. Allegedly the Hindi film industry is trying to impose Hindi to native speakers of other Indian languages. Netflix is blamed for helping and propagating the bias.
In the first episode of ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’ at 12:24 minutes a supporting character inside a train claims Hindi to be the National language of India. Meanwhile people are enraged because there is no National language of India. There are only 22 major languages including Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil and many others that are announced as the official languages of India.
This is not a legitimate allegation because the people that are talking about this inside the train are characters of the story and they are regular human beings who make mistakes. It is not even the protagonist of the series saying that with quite an authority. Hindi is not a National language or a ‘Rashtra Bhasha’, and it is an official language but there is certainly no subtle imposition that can actually justify the rage of the audiences.
The characters of a story are regular human beings and they are supposed to say right and wrong things without bringing strange allegations to the film or series. Everybody needs to have a more open mind while watching anything.
