Since Stree 2 is out of reach for both films, why not let them have a small competition among themselves? This competition has been filled with ups and downs for both Khel Khel Main and Vedaa. Although Vedaa was initially in the lead, as audiences craved some action, they now seem to be shifting their preference towards comedy.
In the first few days, Vedaa was ahead of Khel Khel Main as the non-nationalized theater chains showed promising results. However, as the initial excitement fades, Vedaa sold around 29k tickets yesterday, while Khel Khel Main managed to sell around 46k tickets.
Regarding box-office performance until Saturday, Vedaa had a better opening than Khel Khel Main, but it’s slowing down after the first day. Although the ticket sales were neck and neck until Saturday, Sunday’s sales indicate that Khel Khel Main might pick up the pace.
Especially with Stree 2 likely to slow down and the next big release still a couple of weeks away, Khel Khel Main could fill the gap. While it may not recover its budget, Khel Khel Main might reach a moderate success level soon.
As for the quality of both films, each has its flaws. Vedaa is similar to another typical John Abraham film, and Khel Khel Main is being overused by its makers. But since the audience needs something to watch, and if they’ve already seen Stree 2 and prefer mainstream Hindi films, Vedaa and Khel Khel Main are the two options.
