Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, two star kids who did not have the debut of their dreams are all set to headline a new romantic film from the makers of ‘Lootera’, ‘Queen’, ‘NH 10’, ‘Masaan’, ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Jubilee’ and more.
This new untitled film is set in the modern digital era where its all about love, likes and everything in between. The film will be directed by Advait Chandan who is known for his films ‘Secret Superstar’ and ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ both starring Aamir Khan in the lead role.
This yet to be titled film is the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Love Today’ (2022) by Pradeep Ranganathan which itself was an adaptation of Pradeep’s short film ‘App(a) Lock’ (2020). The story follows a young man who needs to exchange his phone with his girlfriend for 24 hours before their marriage as demanded by the girl’s suspicious father.
‘Love Today’ was small budget film but went on to become a massive critical and commercial success. It received widespread praise for its deft direction, interesting plot, nice music, editing, cinematography, humour, social message and cast performances.
It will be interesting to see if the Hindi remake lives upto the expectations of the original given the not so good debut of the lead stars. Khushi Kapoor’s first acting venture ‘Archies’ was one of the most highly anticipated projects but fell flat on release and her performance in it was poor.
As for Junaid Khan, who recently made his first outing Yash Raj Films’ ‘Maharaj’ on Netflix too was criticised negatively for his acting skills in the film that was mired with controversies before premiere.
This latest untitled film will be produced by Phantom Studios in association with AGS Entertainment and will release in theatres on 7th February, 2025.
