One of the most ambitious projects of this year, Kill, is definitely up there as fans quite loved it. It had the violence and gore that mainstream Indian theatrical audiences have probably never seen. As Kill carries the tag of being a title that will get a Hollywood adaptation, fans are definitely excited.
However, Kill had a slow box office, which is offbeat. If it were released before the OTT era, Kill would have had a sensational box office. If it wasn’t for the exposure to OTT content, Kill would have killed the show.
Despite Indian audiences having less exposure to the film, it would have been a positive thing for Kill to land an OTT release. Though it is getting an OTT release, it is not for Indian audiences.
Kill will be streaming in the USA from the 22nd, but the price tag might make you go nuts. If you want to stream it in the USA, the price tag is as high as $24.99. Converting it to Indian currency, it adds up to ₹2100.
Now Kill will face a big problem.
The hype of the film is unreal, but as it is getting an OTT release in the West, the film will be pirated heavily. When it arrives on the USA OTT, fans will definitely watch it in illegal ways.
Remember a similar incident with Monkey Man. Though Indian audiences were dying to watch it in theaters, what they got was the pirated experience. Now, even if Monkey Man comes to the OTT, it won’t excite many fans.
