Killers Of The Flower Moon Begins Oscar Campaign Before Release

Although the white race dominates the USA and Canada we safely assume that it has been like that forever. But, it is not like that. The Europeans, primarily the British population settled in America and brutal atrocities were unleashed on the Native Americans. Its magnitude was so huge that now Native Americans are limited to small areas of the USA. They account for only 2% population in a land which was traditionally theirs.

Normally, the Oscars try to be inclusive to the extent that they literally force diversity. But do you know how many Native American actresses have been nominated in the lead actress category?

None.

Yes, the so-called diversity embracing Oscars is not diverse enough to acknowledge Native American women, let alone the bullying of Sacheen Littlefeather during The Godfather.

The Oscar season always brings surprises, and the latest one involves “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

It has been revealed that Lily Gladstone‘s performance as Mollie Burkhart in Martin Scorsese’s crime epic will be campaigned for the Best Actress category at the Oscars, rather than in the Supporting Actress category which some pundits had initially speculated. She will share the campaign with her Oscar-winning co-star and executive producer, Leonardo DiCaprio.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” is based on David Grann’s 2017 non-fiction book, which delves into the tragic true story of the Osage tribe members who were mysteriously murdered during the 1920s. It’s worth noting that Indigenous representation in the Academy Awards has been historically scarce.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” is expected to be a major contender in various categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and all technical categories like Adapted Screenplay, Production Design, Cinematography, Costume Design, Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Sound, Visual Effects, and Original Score. The film, produced by Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Daniel Lupi, and Bradley Thomas, will have an exclusive theatrical release by Apple Original Films on October 20th, worldwide.

Let’s see how it goes.
