Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes Postpones

Apes are known to be fierce creators, but on screen, they do look scared, especially after the change of the release date.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” releasing on a new date, faces competition from notable films like Focus Features’ Amy Winehouse biopic and Sony’s “Horrorscope.”

Despite this, it’s positioned as the dominant force in counterprogramming. Disney strategically secures IMAX screens for two weeks before “Furiosa,” marking a first for the Planet of the Apes franchise.

The Planet of the Apes trilogy (2011-2017) earned a global box office total of $1.68 billion. The original 1968 film, based on Pierre Boulle’s novel, grossed over $32 million domestically.

Subsequent 1970s sequels and a 2001 Tim Burton reboot contributed to the franchise’s overall impressive $2.1 billion worldwide earnings.

And as the reboot is happening, it ensures more cash inflow to the franchise, and their recent attempt to prepone the film means that the makers are determined to get a strong start.

Previously, the film was set up for a 25th May release, and now, the makers have shifted it a couple of weeks earlier. The new date comes out as 10th May as the world of humans will witness the world of Apes.
