Kingpin Actor Teases ‘The Same Daredevil Feel’ In MCU’s Echo Series

MCU’s Echo series is all set to premiere on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform on January 10. It will be Marvel’s first-ever series to release all its episodes simultaneously, consisting of five episodes. Led by Alaqua Cox, the series also treasures the likes of Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox. Speaking of D’Onofrio, the actor recently spoke to Screenrant about his experience while working on the sets of Echo. In addition, he teased that the upcoming MCU series will bestow the ‘same Daredevil feel’ to the viewers.

On being asked about his change of approach for portraying Wilson Fisk in Echo, this is what D’Onofrio replied:

“I think that while I was doing Echo, I realized that there’s a tone in Echo, a mature tone where I believed that my characters presented best in. I felt like the reason why I recognized that is because while we were performing it, I realized that whether the audience had ever seen the original Daredevil or not, they’re going to get that same feeling as they did in Daredevil when I first come on screen. They’re going to feel uneasy about him, and I think Fisk works best in that kind of tone.”

D’Onofrio’s statement above makes sense as Echo looks darker, more violent, and more mature than all the previous MCU shows. He made his MCU debut through the Hawkeye Disney+ series, starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. While many welcomed him back as Wilson Fisk, some believed his inclusion in the series was a part of Marvel’s strategy to gain extra viewership. In fact, his presence in Echo seems more intimidating than in the Hawkeye series. The opening moments of Echo’s trailer guaranteed that viewers would surely feel uneasy about him while watching the series.

Along with Vincent D’Onofrio, Echo will have Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear. Disney UK recently previewed a fight between Daredevil and Maya Lopez from Echo. Check out below!

Cox is rumoured to have an extended cameo in the forthcoming Marvel series. And it makes sense as giving him more screen time will take viewers’ focus away from Maya Lopez. The abovementioned clip proves that Maya cannot beat The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in a one-on-one fight. So, it will be intriguing to see how her path crosses with Daredevil in the Echo series. Stay tuned for more updates.
