Kizazi Moto Trailer: Disney+ Gets An Animated Afrofuturistic Series!

Disney+ is bringing a new animated series with brand new stories directed by multiple directors. It is named ‘Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire’ and the official trailer has been released now. The anthology series celebrates the black culture of different parts of Africa. Academy award winning director Peter Ramsey who was a co-director of ‘Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse’, is executive producing the project. Kizazi Moto is set to release on the 5th of July.

There were initially 70 animation filmmakers from Africa who pitched their ideas of short films but out of them only 10 were selected for the show. The stories are from countries like Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe and more. The trailer of ‘Kizazi Moto’ is pretty good and the animation is spectacularly beautiful though it is hard to make out from it what any of the stories are about. There are futuristic tales deeply associated with the roots of African culture. After Black Panther, this will be the new big thing in the history of Afrofuturism. The series has a vibe of Love, Death+Robots, with stories that are completely different from each other but are tuned in finally by a common thread.

The short films is directed by filmmakers like Ahmed Teilab, Ng’endo Mukii, Shofela Coker, Nthato Mokgata, Terence Neale, Pious Nyenyewa, Tafadzwa Hove, Raymond Malinga and a few others. The animation style will amuse you beyond imagination with its unique world building and fantasy.

‘Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire’ will premiere on the 5th of July this year. If you are a fan of animation, you should not miss this one.
