Author and journalist David Grunn has said that Martin Scorsese’s next movie will be adapted from his book ‘The Wager’. There are no official announcements from the maker as yet but fans are quite excited for the news.
Once again, Scorsese’s favorite collaborator Leonardo Di Caprio seems to be starring in the movie. The actor and director duo have worked together in multiple successful movies like ‘The Aviator’, ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ and ‘Gangs Of New York’. Their recent collaboration ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ is yet to be released and it is highly appreciated by critics from the Cannes screening.
The Wager and Killers Of The Flower Moon both are written by Davin Grunn and this kindles huge anticipation. The book is set in the 1740s where a group of British men are stranded on a Brazilian island after a shipwreck. After six months, another shipwreck happens and another group of people reach there and the previous group finds out that they were mutineers. The book is a great commentary on human nature and how a matinee does not happen in the sea alone but happens inside us as well. The Wager is a much acclaimed book which is thoroughly researched upon. Making a film on the book will not be an easy task. So it is all good if Scorsese directs it.
One more film from Scorsese and Leonardo is the best thing that can happen to cinephiles. Such a conflicting story deserves a filmmaker like Scorsese to make a film on it. There is going to be high production value and many other great actors will join the cast if the movie finally works out.
