One of the most watched shows ‘Koffee With Karan’ is back and newly titled ‘Koffee Shots With Karan’. The first episode dropped yesterday, featuring the lead cast of Disney+Hotstar’s ‘The Empire‘, who have all been receiving rave reviews regarding their performances. Actors Kunal Kapoor, Dino Morea and Drashti Dhami graced the show as its first guests and quite set the stage on fire. Host Karan was his usual, peppy self as he brought out their candid best, though what particularly caught everyone’s attention was a scene in the promo of ‘Koffee Shots With Karan’, released by streaming platform Disney+Hotstar.
In the promo, as the three guests took to the couch and answered the string of questions by Karan, actress Drashti Dhami gave us all an entertaining moment as she teased host Karan. When asked, “Who is the current female actor that you consider as your role model?”, Drashti quickly replied, “Your favourite, Kang…Priyanka Chopra.” Cheekily about to say the name of Kangana Ranaut, she quickly changed her answer to Priyanka Chopra and laughed. Karan’s reaction was worth a million dollars, as he too, quickly responded saying, “I am keeping a straight face.”
The episode features many such fun, candid moments, especially during the rapid fire round. Another one grabbing eyeballs is when Karan asked Kunal who he would like to lock up, marry and behead among Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone, to which the actor jokingly replied, “I think I would behead Alia, just out of envy, for how talented she is. I think that would definitely happen. Anushka, I would marry, but I think Virat would behead me! Deepika I would lock up, because things of value and beauty should be locked up”.
Incidentally, the much talked-about series, ‘The Empire’ started streaming on Disney+Hotstar on the 27th of August and sees Kunal play the role of Mughal emperor Babur, Drashti Dhami as his sister, Khanzada and Dino Morea as the ruthless conqueror Shaibani Khan. Although actors Dino and Kunal have been around for close to 20 years, this series could be the much needed breakthrough for both of them.
