South Korean-born American filmmaker Kogonada is widely known for his video essays that aim to study, analyze, and comprehend the format and structure of numerous films and television series. ‘Columbus’, his directorial debut in 2017 was followed by another critically acclaimed title: the sci-fi drama ‘After Yang’.
His most recent upcoming project titled ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ has a star-studded ensemble cast on board including names like Margot Robbie, Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, as well as newcomer Lucy Thomas.
Sony Pictures is all set to release the romance film in theaters globally, on May 9, 2025. While the plot details are being kept under wraps, the plot is set to follow an expressively imaginative tale of two strangers and the extraordinary emotional journey that connects them, or any set of strangers for that matter.
The feature film marks a reunion for Turner-Smith, Kogonada, and Farrell, who collaborated for his sophomore project: A24’s ‘After Yang’. Moreover, the project is the only one upcoming for Robbie, who is finally past the mega-success of her multi-award-winning 2023 rom-com drama ‘Barbie’. Farrell on the other hand has the much awaited ‘The Penguin’, set in the DC Universe upcoming.
Turner-Smith on the other hand has ‘Tron: Ares’ forthcoming, while Waller-Bridge has an untitled Tomb Raider project in the making.
