‘Kontho’ came out in 2019 and was directed by Shiboprosad and Nandita. Shiboprosad alsp plays the lead role in the movie. Kontho is produced under the banner of Windows Productions.
‘Kontho’ means ‘the throat/voice’ in Bengali and the movie too is all about voice. It tells the story of RJ Arjun who is a popular radio jockey and one day his life is stuck in a blind alley when he discovers that he has laryngeal cancer. His voice breaks down and he initially feels depressed. But he refuses to succumb to the situation and continues his job. It is a tough job but RJ Arjun tries to get accustomed to his oesophageal voice. Kontho is a story of friendship, it is also a story of the indomitable spirit of an individual.
Apart from Shiboprosad, the movie also has actors like Paoli Dam, Jaya Ahsan, Chitra Sen, Koneenica Banerjee, Jimmy Tangree, Biplab Dasgupta and Paran Bandopadhyay in other important roles. Usha Uthup too is in a cameo role.
Kontho has some beautiful songs in the movie. They are composed by talented artists like Anupam Roy, Anindya Chatterjee and Prasen.
