Korea’s Very Own Take on Silicon Valley: “Start Up”

By Binged Bureau - Oct 16, 2020 @ 11:10 am

Start Up, a K-drama releasing on 17th October on Netflix, will show the life of a somewhat similar to Silicon Valley place and the side of struggling entrepreneurs who wants to make their mark in the world with the establishments of their own start ups.

The drama has Bae Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk as the leads. It is shown that Bae Suzy’s character will be college dropout who struggles with starting up her own business and hence starts working part time to raise up money. Whereas, on the other hand Nam Joo Hyuk’s character will shown to be Math genius who already has a start up but has been facing troubles running it. The leads will eventually turn to become each other’s love interests. Even though the show will take a turn for love it is still supposed to stick to the main purpose of starting up their business.

They end up becoming each other’s support and backbone, while they team up, start up their careers and settle themselves down. Not only the leads but the supporting actors also have ambitions of climbing up the ladder of success in the world of corporates and new ventures. Eventually all the characters will be seen becoming a part of each other’s lives while they passionately work for their goals.

The ‘Start-up’ has an incredible line of up actors and is directed by the Director Oh Choong-hwan, who has been known to direct some of the most amazing k-dramas like Doctors, Hotel Del Luna, While you were Sleeping and many others. The story has been written by one of the famous K-drama writers Park Hye-ryun who has written for popular dramas like Pinocchio, Dream High, I Can Hear Your Voice and While You Were Sleeping. It is produced by Dragon Studios and set to be on air on Saturdays and Sundays.

It will be interesting to see such a fresh topic in the K-Drama genre and this drama is supposed to have a surprising twist in the tale, which makes it even more interesting to look forward too.
