Krasinski’s ‘IF’ Traverses The Thin Line Between A Hit And A Miss!

In the ever-developing world of today, we often forget to live for ourselves. Somewhere along the line we sidetrack our dreams to pursue what is societally appreciated. Serving as a beacon of hope during times like these is John Krasinski’s new directorial venture ‘IF’.

Most children develop imaginary friends for themselves growing up when they’re not mature enough to handle the complexities and anxieties of real life. Thus, blanketing viewers in warmth, the plot of ‘IF’ revolves around a girl who embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs (Imaginary Friends) with their kids (now adults) upon discovering that she can see everyone’s forgotten friends.

Boasting a star cast including John Krasinski, Ryan Reynolds, Cailey Fleming, Emily Blunt, Steve Carrell, Awkwafina, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr, and more, the comedic live-action animated feature debuted at a score of 58% (critics’ reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The children’s film also made for the adults who accompany them concludes with a climax filled with a plethora of bittersweet overwhelming emotions. For the same reason, the feature has gotten less critical and more sentimental reviews from viewers.

Distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film is all set to release on May 17 in cinemas across the country. What would your review be?
