Kunchacko Boban’s Rendagam Gives Off Lucifer Vibes

Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban teams up with Tamil superstar Arvind Swamy for the upcoming Malayalam-Tamil bilingual film, ‘Randagam‘. The film will be a milestone for both actors – it is the first Tamil film for Kunchacko Boban while it will be Arvind Swamy’s first Malayalam film after a 25-year hiatus. The trailer for this bilingual drama dropped on the official YouTube channel of Saina Movies, last night and it has been trending well on YouTube so far. The best part of the trailer – it looks very similar to the Mohanlal superhit film – Lucifer. Check out the 80-second-plus promo at the end of this article.

From what we can understand from the trailer, Arvind Swamy is supposed to be portraying a renowned gangster, who is known in different parts of the world. However, Kunchacko Boban‘s role in the film seems to be less clear. The Mollywood actor is shown to be giving a ride to Arvind Swamy’s character and keeping him company – so his character could be a subordinate, partner-in-crime or friend/family. However, one thing that is clear in the trailer is that Arvind Swamy’s character has lost his memory.

But how does the trailer give off “Lucifer vibes?”. Well, firstly, this film is a gangster flick. Secondly, the cinematography and editing – looks pretty much ditto. Thirdly, the cast. Sure, we won’t get Mohanlal vibes from Arvind Swamy in this trailer – but he comes pretty close. His character has been affectionately called “Dawood”, so we do expect a lot of “hype moments” in the film.

Back to the trailer analysis – the head of Arvind Swamy’s character is wanted by rival gangs, politicians and even cops, which puts him in a very vulnerable position. And since he doesn’t have any memory, it looks like he has joined Kunchacko’s character and they are journeying together to discover who Arvind’s character really is. A good premise so far… If that is what we are going to get. However, so far, nothing else has been mentioned about the film – the next trailer date, release date, mode of release – theatrical or OTT – nothing. We will have to wait and see, but knowing the actors behind this project; we are likely to see a theatrical release.
