Talking about a dream run, Dune Part 2 is definitely having one, but the emergence of Kung Fu Panda might shorten the run. Now, we aren’t really predicting a Barbenheimer event; that’s once in a lifetime, and both helped each other for a bigger BO.
But, Dune and Kung Fu Panda might battle it out in the vicious war of BO.
In reality, the audience for both films is completely different; one will appeal more to kids, and Dune Part 2 is usually for somewhat of a mature audience, but it can juxtapose anytime. And now, we might have a question, Will Kung Fu Panda affect Dune’s run?
Talking about the opening of Kung Fu Panda 4, it will target an opening of $45M-$50M, and with a release date of March 8th, Dune 2’s run might take a hit.
When it comes to Dune, it definitely is a box-office blockbuster and managed to gross $180M in international BO; even Monday had an $8M market, promising an ongoing run, which is definitely a beneficial run for the studios.
This weekend, Dune 2 will also have a good and promising run, without any hindrance, but Kung Fu Panda might make the life of Paul Atreides a bit tougher, especially since it is releasing one week after Dune’s release.
