Kung Fu Panda 4 Now Has A VOD Release Date, But…

Talking about the Jai and Veeru of this weekend’s box office, Dune Part Two and Kung Fu Panda will also continue their journey in the VOD space. Dune was quick to adapt to the VOD format, avoiding past mistakes, and now Kung Fu Panda 4 joins the race.

It will soon be available as VOD on digital platforms, and we have a release date.

Similar to Dune Part Two, it will be available on Amazon’s digital platform, and the pre-order price is set at $29.99, even costlier than theater tickets for US audiences.

Reports state that the release date is April 9th, but there’s uncertainty for Indian fans.

Primarily, Indian audiences are concerned about limited screens and insufficient advertising, which keeps them away from watching Hollywood films in theaters. However, the makers won’t be compensating with an earlier VOD release or an OTT run.

Also, the VOD model is not very convenient for the Indian demographic. Although Kung Fu Panda has a cult-like fanbase, it’s not hardcore enough to drive engagement in VOD or pre-orders.

Talking about the plot, Po faces a double challenge: becoming the Valley of Peace’s spiritual leader and finding his successor as Dragon Warrior. A sly fox named Zhen enters the picture. Meanwhile, the villainous Chameleon seeks to steal the Staff of Wisdom and revive past foes. Po must train Zhen, embrace his new role, and unite with the Furious Five to face this cunning enemy.

The opening weekend collection also comes out strong, crosses the threshold of $58M, will it surpass the first three instalments? We will know soon.
