‘Kurup’ Filmmaker To Make His Hindi Feature Debut With A Con Man’s Story

Srinath Rajendran, known for his Malayalam films like Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Koothara’, is all set to make his Hindi feature film debut with a film inspired from the life of a notorious con man Dhani Ram Mittal.

The yet to be titled film will be based on the book “Money Ram” written by Chetan Uniyal and Pretty Aggarwal. According to police sources, Mittal was well educated and had a Bachelor of Science and LLB degree. His first case of cheating happened in 1964 and he did not look back after that.

With over 1000 cases of theft, cheating, impersonation and forgery during his lifetime, Mittal was went to jail over 90 times. His crimes ranged from posing as a judge and granting bails to undertrials to stealing fancy cars for personal joy and many more. After being ill for some time, Mittal passed away earlier this year at the age of 85.

Rajendran’s film based on Mittal’s life has begun work on screenplay writing and is scheduled to start shooting early next year. The film will be shot and released in Hindi alongside Malayalam and Telugu, targeting a pan Indian audience.
