Dulquer Salmaan hasn’t been resting on the laurels of his recently released film, ‘Kurup’. The actor-producer is gearing up for the release of his next theatrical release, the Tamil romantic comedy, ‘Hey Sinamika‘. The film was expected to release last year, just before Valentine’s Day, however, the rising Covid-19 numbers due to the sudden spread second wave of the coronavirus pandemic caused it to be postponed. The release date them got postponed twice more before it finally got fixed for the last week of next month.
Dulquer Salmaan has had a good couple of months so far. The actor hadn’t made any film appearances in the past 18 or so months (except for his small cameo performance in ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan) prior to the release of the crowd-pleaser, ‘Kurup’. The aforementioned crime thriller, however, reignited the passion in the Malayalam theatre-going crowd and helped theatre owners around the state of Kerala to start earning money. We expect more of the same with his ‘Hey Sinamika’.
The recent variant of the Covid-19 virus, Omicron, has been causing a rise in coronavirus cases within India. This caused multiple states (including Kerala) to implement stricter Covid-19 restrictions, including removing night shows for a couple of weeks and dropping the occasional curfew. With Kerala theatres slowly losing the film-going crowd to the spread of the virus, cinema hall owners are currently in another desperate situation. They need another film to spark audiences to return to theatres and after the postponement of films like ‘Salute’, ‘RRR‘ and ‘Jersey’, many distributors are looking at ‘Hey Sinamika’ to take them through these dark times.
‘Hey Sinamika’ will drop in theatres on February 25th 2022. With the film dropping in theatres in less than a month, the film’s marketing team has been dropping promo videos – with the latest one being a lyrical video for a song titled, ‘Thozhi’, which dropped yesterday. Check it out below:
