Kyle Allen Cast as He-Man in Netflix’s ‘Masters of the Universe’ Movie

Kyle Allen, who was last seen in legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s musical drama ‘West Side Story’, has bagged the lead role in the much-anticipated live-action ‘Masters of the Universe’ movie. It has been confirmed that OTT giant Netflix has acquired the film, which was previously under development at Sony. Kyle Allen will essay the role of the primary protagonist He-Man in the film.

The ‘Masters of the Universe’ reboot movie is being helmed by filmmaker-brother duo Aaron Nee and Adam Nee. Their previous directorial credits include the eccentric comedy-drama movie ‘The Last Romantic’ and Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn-based adventure film ‘Band of Robbers’. Their upcoming project ‘The Lost City’ is a star-studded venture that features an ensemble cast that includes the likes of Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, and Brad Pitt.

The film’s underlying premise would revolve around an orphan boy named Adam who realizes that he is a faraway land’s prince and eventually assumes the mantle of the most powerful man in the universe – He-Man. But he must quickly learn to use his enormous powers to defeat his formidable adversary – Skeletor.

After making his debut as an action figure toy way back in the early 80s, Mattel’s He-Man and the accompanying ‘Masters of the Universe’ characters came into the global limelight with the toy line-based He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series, which turned out to be one of the most loved shows of the 1980s period.

Moreover, this is not the first time Netflix has been associated with the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise. Previously, the streaming platform had become home to two animated shows namely ‘Masters of the Universe: Revelation’ and ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’.
