The highly anticipated Aamir Khan feature, Laal Singh Chaddha, has had its release date postponed by four months. According to the producers, the film cannot be completed by its April release date, which is why the theatrical premiere has been postponed. This delay in release was announced by Aamir Khan Productions through the company’s official Twitter account, a few hours ago. Check out said tweet at the end of this article.
While we have not been given the reason why the production wasn’t able to make its April release date, we have a few speculations. The delay could easily have been Covid-related. Laal Singh Chaddha is not the first film to have failed to meet its theatrical premiere date due to Covid-19 and it is definitely not going to be the last one either. The film started shooting in 2019, before the production came to a grinding halt in March 2020, due to the global pandemic. The film production has been facing problems since then… so this is not a complete surprise – especially after the second wave, Delta and Omicron variants.
Laal Singh Chaddha is the Bollywood remake of the 1994 American hit classic, Forrest Gump, which was based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name. So from what we can understand, the film underwent multiple changes in the script, even during production. With the number of times the script changed, according to multiple reports, we wouldn’t be surprised if this was the original reason for the film’s postponement of the release date.
Also, the postponement of Laal Singh Chaddha has caused the postponement of another major pan-Indian, multi-starrer feature, Adhipurush. The film was expected to release in August, but now, Laal Singh Chaddha will be taking its release date. Adhipurush’s theatrical released date will likely be pushed by at least a month now.
Aamir Khan’s upcoming feature film, Laal Singh Chaddha, has pushed its theatrical premiere from April 14th 2022 release date to August 11th 2022. The movie will make its theatrical release around the globe.
