Lal Salaam: Promises of OTT Release Getting Funny Now

Lal Salaam Promises of OTT Release Getting Funny Now

Things are getting funny for Lal Salaam. The movie was a big flop but it is associated with Rajinikanth and it makes the movie pretty important through this one factor alone.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s directorial was released with much fanfare, but it failed to perform at the box office. Despite being made on a massive budget of Rs 90 crore, the film managed to collect only Rs 17 crore in its lifetime run.

Even a special appearance by Rajinikanth, playing the character Moideen Bhai, couldn’t save the film’s fate. Overall, Lal Salaam received mostly negative reviews.

One surprising reason for the film’s failure, according to Aishwarya Rajinikanth, was the loss of the hard disk containing important scenes. Due to this, the production team had to release the movie without key footage, which may have contributed to its poor reception.

Typically, films are released on OTT platforms within 8 weeks of their theatrical release in the Hindi belt. For Tamil movies, it is even lower with 4 weeks only. However, 7 months after Lal Salaam hit theatres, it still hasn’t made its OTT debut. Fans have been made to believe the delay is because of the gone hard disk.

But what’s the new update?

In a recent interview, Aishwarya revealed that the lost footage has finally been recovered and will be added to the OTT version of the film.

This is indeed huge news.

She has assured that the OTT release, which will feature her director’s cut, will be quite different from what audiences saw in theatres.

So, let’s see what the OTT version brings.
