Lata Mangeshkar has passed away. There can be a little to say in that as her career spanned over 6 decades and over 30000 songs. If we are talking about Lata Mangeshkar then one can never do justice to her decades of a long career in a few words. It might take a lifetime for anyone to fully appreciate the diversity of songs in her career.
The diversity itself is extremely diverse. She not only sang Hindi songs but also in Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu and many more languages. Apart from linguistic diversity, she sang romantic, spiritual, gloomy, folk songs in all different modes.
She started singing in films in 1942 but debuted in the Hindi film industry in 1947. She gained recognition in 1942 by singing the songs of Barsaat and Mahal. Her voice picturised on Nargis and Madhubala became the epitome of a beautiful voice and she stretched it to actresses like Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta.
She sang for at least 3 generations as she was always the leading voice of Raj Kapoor films and even sang for his granddaughter.
