Esha Deol Takhtani is the latest to join Ajay Devgn’s ‘Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness’, marking the actress’s debut in the web space. A Hotstar Special, ‘Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness’ will be a re-imagination of the popular British series ‘Luther’.
Esha, who is looking forward to working with Ajay Devgn after a long time, said in a statement, “As an actor, I believe in working on projects that would let me explore something new and engage me as a viewer as well. This series is a fresh take on the quintessential cop drama with a grey overtone, something which has not been explored in the Indian context before. With the resounding success of the OTT space, I am charged up for my digital debut with this one.”
‘Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness’ is an engaging and dark new take on cop stories, combined with a unique storytelling format and powerful characters. The series that will release on Disney+ Hotstar will be directed by Rajesh Mapuskar (‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’).
Applause Entertainment will produce the series in association with BBC Studios India. Applause is known for creating some really excellent works like ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, ‘Special OPS’, ‘Criminal Justice’ and more.

Other than marking her digital debut, ‘Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness’ will also be Esha’s return to screen after two years. She was last seen in Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s 2019 short film ‘Cakewalk’. Before that she starred in the 2015 multi-lingual drama ‘Care of Footpath 2’.
The original ‘Luther’ is a psychological crime drama, starring Idris Elba in the lead and follows a near-genius, dedicated police officer. The series spanned five successful seasons which aired from 2010 to 2019.
Ajay Devgn’s digital debut series ‘Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness’ will premiere soon only on Disney+ Hotstar.
