Netflix has been a pioneer of sorts when it comes to OTT platforms and is always innovating and experimenting with the kind of content, they create to enhance your experience. As a parent, many of them are worried about the kind of content that is being viewed by their children online which is why Netflix is bringing a new tool called the Kids activity report that can help the parents better understand the shows that their kids see and thus make it a better experience for everybody.
This Kids Activity report will breakdown data and tells you which show or character your child likes. They will also give you recommendations for new shows based on this data and make it a much more inclusive experience for the family.
Emails have been sent put to customers whose kids account has been enabled and Michelle Parsons who is the head of Netflix’s product innovation team has said that, “Parents will hopefully be able to connect with their kids by having a thorough understanding of what they are watching.”
The kid activity report will also come with vital information about your kid’s favourite Netflix character and show as well as a prepared list of questions about them. Along with this new kids report, Netflix is also toying with the idea of a family setting profile.
Unlike the regular profiles, family profiles will help you to put together family-friendly recommendations. This will only allow movies with up to a PG-13 rating and shows with a TV-14 rating. This will undoubtedly help create a great family viewing experience. The family profiles will be rolling out as a global test in select markets, but it would certainly help families monitor the content that is being consumed by everyone in the family, especially the younger ones.
