With a similar magnificent theme, a film and a web series, being worked around at almost the same time, doesn’t that sound super interesting! Yes your read that right, as many of you know ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam is still working on his multi starrer dream project ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, Soundarya Rajnikanth has announced a new web series ‘Puthu Vellam – Ponniyin Selvan’ season 1 in association with MX Player.
Soundarya took to Twitter to launch her latest project ‘Puthu Vellam – Ponniyin Selvan’, that got locked after having its share of hurdles, on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi today.
Sharing photos of the team working on the project along with the cover page of the script she wrote, “Every project has a journey & a destiny. On this auspicious day I’m very happy to share after many hurdles – we have locked our web series PUTHU VELLAM – PONNIYIN SELVAN SEASON 1 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Based on Ponniyin Selvan, Tamil historic fictional book series consisting of five parts by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, ‘Puthu Vellam – Ponniyin Selvan’ season 1 will be directed by Sharath Jothi who has also penned the screenplay for the epic series. ‘Puthu Vellam’ constitutes first of the five books from the series. The story will revolve around Arulmozhivarman, one of the kings of Chola dynasty, who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.
‘Puthu Vellam – Ponniyin Selvan’, an MX Original web series will be produced by Soundarya Rajnikanth’s production house May 6 Entertainment. Rest of the information about the cast, crew and release date remain to be announced by the makers. Stay tuned to binged.com for further updates.
