While diehard fans of the popular television series ‘Dexter’ eagerly await the show’s ninth season, the official handle of Dexter on Showtime has recently revealed a short six-second teaser video. In the video, we can see a picture of Dexter and his son Harrison thrown into the fire. The video was accompanied by Dexter’s famous quote “Wanna know a secret? Daddy kills people.”
In the teaser video, it is unclear whether it is Dexter’s now grown-up son Harrison throwing the picture into the fire or is it Dexter himself doing that with the purpose of erasing his former life. It’s important because the show’s plotline could depend on that.
While it remains unconfirmed whether Dexter’s son Harrison will make a comeback in the show’s highly-anticipated ninth season, the character’s possible inclusion in the series can drive the plotline in an interesting direction.
Dexter’s ninth season was regarded by many as a big let-down even by the show’s loyal fan base. The season’s finale had concluded in a half-baked and uninspiring climax where Dexter was revealed to have assumed a lumberjack’s identity, apparently leaving his son Harrison behind.
About a week ago, Dexter Morgan’s (played by Michael C. Hall) wife Rita (played by Julie Benz) had also opened up about her willingness to reprise her role, despite the obvious improbability for the character’s return for the forthcoming season.
Previously it was also revealed that the main villain to our favorite anti-hero vigilante serial killer Dexter will be played by Clancy Brown. Brown is well known for portraying the primary antagonist The Kurgan in the 1986 film ‘Highlander’.
The original Golden Globe Award-winning series revolved around a blood splatter analyst at the Miami Police Department – Dexter Morgan, who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer of murderers who he thinks have escaped justice.
Dexter’s fourth season, which was supervised by showrunner Clyde Philips, is generally regarded as the best. With Philips back in the driving seat, we hope that the ninth season will revive the lost glory that was painstakingly set up by the first four seasons.
Dexter Season 9, which is being touted as the revival season, will reportedly comprise ten episodes and is expected to release sometime in the last quarter of 2021.
