Almost every day now fans were looking for some sort of information on the release of superstar Akshay Kumar’s “Sooryavanshi”. Well, the news is here, and “Sooryavanshi” has been officially postponed. This news has come up after Rohit Shetty and team had an official meeting with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Earlier scheduled to release on the 30th of April, the movie now has been pushed back indefinitely and there have been announcements of any new release dates. This has come up in a time when the state of Maharashtra is seeing the highest increase in COVID-19 cases once again. The Maharashtra government recently after a meeting announced that strict measures have to be followed to curb and stop the spread of the virus.
Since, it is well known fact Maharashtra and Mumbai serves as the biggest market for Hindi movies; postponement definitely is a good decision for both the makers and viewers, keeping in mind the situation. Sooryavanshi which was deemed as the “comeback” movie for the entire Bollywood, hopes were high for this particular Akshay Kumar starrer.
While it is night curfew in weekdays and complete lockdown during the weekends, movies would still suffer a huge loss if released now. Before Sooryavanshi, the decision of postponement also came from makers of “Haathi Mere Saathi”, “Chehre” and “Bunty Aur Babli 2”. Though, this won’t be the first time COVID-19 has postponed “Sooryavanshi”. This has been happening since last year, as it was already slated to release back in 2020.
As of now, Maharashtra has almost reached the 60,000 mark which is an all time high. Along with India recorded more than a lakh cases on Sunday, which officially makes it the highest daily increase recorded since the beginning of the pandemic. Apart from Maharashtra, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh recorded the next highest cases.
