Fans of stand-up comedy are in for a treat in the coming days, as Netflix premieres its all-female stand-up comedy special from India, titled ‘Ladies Up’. The one-hour special will feature some of the most popular names in the Indian comedy circuit.
Kaneez Surka, Niveditha Prakasam, Supriya Joshi, and Prashasti Singh are the four women who will take viewers on a journey that promises to be a laugh riot. And now for the important part – Ladies Up will premiere on Netflix on 27th March.
Stand-up comedy may simply be comedy for viewers. But it is pretty serious business for Netflix. The content slate for the streaming platform features several comedy specials each month. Another notable thing is that in recent times, Netflix has also been giving an encouraging push to stand-up comedians from India. Last year, it had commissioned a series of eight exclusive stand-up comedy specials by Indian comic artists. Vir Das, Amit Tandon, Aditi Mittal are some of the comedians from India who have their comedy specials on Netflix.
The one-hour special by the four comedy artists, Kaneez Surka, Niveditha Prakasam, Supriya Joshi, and Prashasti Singh is apparently part of the above-mentioned deal. While Kaneez is a well-known and established name in the comic scene in India, the other three are upcoming artists with a fast-increasing fan following.
Ladies Up is available for streaming on Netflix from 27th March 2020.
